Daily Living

Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths.
Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long

-Psalm 25:4-5

What is a devotional and Why is it important for me?

A devotional and/or 'quiet time' is time spent with God in prayer and in His word learning about Him, about His glorious plan for our salvation and seeking the Holy Spirit's direction for our daily living. It is time spent seeking and allowing Him to teach us, grow us and, in the process, become more like our Savior Jesus Christ. It is important for us to spend these precious moments with God in order to deepen our relationship with Him.  Our walk with Christ must be more than simply Sunday morning worship! It's about being in relationship with Him, seeking His will for our lives and being able to hear His 'voice' amid the busyness and running around of life. Ultimately, our devotional time spent with God---brings us closer and closer to not only His will for our lives, but to God's heart!
These links are designed as resources for you to keep growing your relationship with God as you spend time with Him.  If you are new to this---don't worry! It's easy. Simply try to set aside a regular time for your 'quiet time/devotional.' Then, after you have pulled up one of these links (or all of them!) stop and pray before you start reading. Simply pray that God would speak to you via His word and the words of these great men and women who are sharing what God has done in their lives and hearts with you. Go ahead and read the devotional slowly, don't rush! Let it sink in. I encourage you to have your Bible with you so you can jot down any notes or thoughts by the verse or chapter of what God is teaching you or what is being healed in your hearts (thank God for those big margings in our Bibles!) After this simply close with prayer over what God through HisWord has taught you, as well as praying for all those individuals and situations in your life that need to be brought before Him. You see--not so bad! Nothing to be afraid of! God just wants to be in relationship with  you. So go ahead and start spending time with Him.  He's waiting for you.
