REV. EDWIN COLLADO
Our pastor is a ‘homegrown’ product of our beautiful city. Growing up, first, in Hialeah and then in Little Havana, the family attended First Spanish Presbyterian Church. Edwin was a student at the on-site Christian school named ‘La Progresiva’. After graduating in 1990, he headed north to the small town of Pella, Iowa, to attend Central College. Having graduated with a B.A. in Religion and a Minor in Psychology, Edwin returned home, where he served four years as a campus minister at the University of Miami’s Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. It was during this time that he began working on a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Edwin then stepped into this field through a program called “Independent Living” for four years. He was simultaneously serving as a volunteer coordinator for the youth/young adult ministry at Palmetto Presbyterian Church, where his father was the Pastor.
Edwin then served at Central Presbyterian Church as the Youth Pastor for 8 years. During his time at Central Edwin also served for over a year as the Interim English Ministry Pastor of Korean Presbyterian Church in North Miami, and was the founder of the PYG (Presbyterian Youth Gatherings) conferences for the Presbytery of Tropical Florida. He led the latter for two years and involved over 200 youth. It was at this point that Edwin decided to answer God’s call upon Edwin’s life to pursue an MDIV degree. He decided to attend Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida. After three and a half years in seminary, Edwin returned to Miami in order to share the good news of Jesus Christ with all those whose paths they cross. He is thrilled to have returned home to serve the Lord in Miami, and invite you to partner with them in extending the hope of Christ to a city we all love!
Pastor Edwin is also currently an adjunct professor at Trinity International University and also serving as a chaplain for the South Miami Police Department.
